Sometimes I think Snape is definitely good - no doubt about it.
Then I think well maybe he is selfish and looking out for number one.
Indeed there is enough evidence to support both ideas.

What I think there is insufficient evidence for is that he could be Voldemort's man. There is too much proof in the text that he just is not.

Most of all I worry that he is the figure of a pawn. A pawn which can be used by both sides. Eg even if LV suspected that Snape wasn't true to him, he could stay quiet and use him and set up events in his favour. Hence Snape is being used.

Did you post SiriusvSnape to HP essays? I think I did read that one. I'll go back and check.

The only piece of def writing I can trust in JKR's work is this:

No one character on the side of good will always be a nice person all the time and no one character on the side of evil is only going to do nasty things all the time.
