I'm not sure if this explains it, but perhaps Harry's knowledge that the Dursleys are not his real parents makes it easier for him to shrug off the abuse he suffers.
Not to mention, at least Harry has Hogwarts to look forward to once he hits adolescence. Poor Snape had nothing. It's sort of a minor miracle that the man is able to function in society, let alone flourish.
