I firmly maintain that the pureblood Weasleys are of higher class than the Malfoys.
I only find evidence of the opposite, like Slughorn, being friends with Abraxas and favoring Lucius, while he doesn't seem to know or care the least who the Weasleys are. What is the point of the Weasleys being a higher class when no one in their universe notices this fact? Anyway, we don't know for sure which family is older and what used to be their relative status 500 years ago. We do know that Draco is an arrogant elitist, who thinks the world ought to bow to him (behaving in some ways eerily like James - so there is no reason whatsoever to believe James' family is higher class than the Malfoys) while Ron is an extremely ordinary boy with self esteem issues and a wish to prove himself(I don't notice any humble nobility in him).
