I remain unkeen for Apple because the machines I've used have not been intuitive, and have not "just worked." I liked my iPod for a while, but that's because it was a Christmas present from my brother, (and was also practically free.) My iTunes was a constant mess and full of duplicate tracks and the iTunes store hardly ever had the music I wanted to listen to, and the DRM was a constant headache as I used to keep all my music on my parents computer, then when I got my own...half of the tracks got stuck on there...infuriating!
Now I've got a little Sansa, and it's just wonderful to load the tracks and go, and I use a free music player on the computer. Enough of the Apple malarkey. Even though it's still problematic - at the moment KC's brand new Macbook won't play video files, last month it refused to recognise her printer or her camera.

Anyways. Pardon moi. But as you can imagine my skepticism extends to the iPad. Especially if it's tarred with the same brush of Apple exclusivity that will make sharing the written word very difficult indeed.

I'd miss not being able to pick up a discarded newspaper on a train... guess in the future things are always guaranteed to change.

But then again... all people need to is vote with their feet. Consumers have power, and if the iPad flops that's a strong message.
