The kindness of a stranger -

I will stop posting about politics someday soon. Probably someday after Nov. 4. But I came across this story in my browsing and couldn't resist posting it here. It's NICE! Niceness sometimes seems in short supply in the U.S. these days.

I may be PMS-ing, but that story got me choked up.

Yes, me too, but it also made me smile. And here's the thing: we may argue that an election should be about issues, rather than character, but on the most basic level we always do vote for character - or what we perceive as such. And this man, to me, has shown a consistently ethical and strong character, as exemplified in this story.

Kindness is not weakness. Idealism is not stupidity, nor is it necessarily naive. Subtlety and intellect do not mean you are shady. I think perhaps the American people are starting to understand these things. We've had enough nastiness and blunt power-grabbing and hypocrisy over the last decade or two, haven't we?

Indeed. McSame's negative ads are finally rolling off me as I don't think people believe his alarmist hysteria any more. Let's have more Harvard JD's and less bible school grads running our country and see what happens, eh?
