Thanks, Anne! Nice to hear from you, and I'm glad the relationships rang true to you. That's what I was after. One of the reasons I'm SO frustrated by the Potterverse right now is Rowling's obtuseness about relationships - as I said before, she's a very good observer, but her explanations/conclusions about what she observes are just odd. For example, I cannot accept for a moment that, where Neville is concerned, Snape hates him because he thinks Lily would be alive had Neville been "the chosen one". Snape, as written, honestly doesn't seem to hate Neville at all: he is both irritated by him, and (in a strange way) protective of him. She *actually writes* Snape as a good (if damaged and irritable) person with some emotional awareness - and then, in the seventh book, tries to slam him into this little box that really doesn't fit him. Her hatred for the character is stunning. But more on that in my essay. (And I was - and am - a Sev/Lily shipper, too. I just don't think any human being can be summed up by one failed romance. People are more complicated than that. Even fictional characters are (or should be) more complicated than that.)

All I was trying to say here, really, is that I'm very glad you liked the story! ) I wanted to give Snape what I saw as a happy, healthy family - something else that doesn't exist in the Potterverse, IMHO. And yes, I think he deserves it, quite as much as Harry does, if not more. As to our band - well, we do sing our own version of 'traditional' music. My sister is the better instrumentalist/musician; I play tin whistle, and we keep it simple. We're both trying to learn bodhran now; Deirdre plays some viola and is learning mandolin. She's done most of the keyboards/electronic instrumentation. If you go to our site, www.myspace.com/thegringottsgrrls, you can hear more. We're quite proud of our version of "Gilderoy" which is a capella at the moment!
