Yes. I simply cannot get over Rowling's cruelty to this character. He shows an extraordinary heroism in simply reaching out for love and friendship - never mind repenting his sins and risking his life repeatedly.
Did you read Ms. Sawyers' review in the "Christian Science Monitor"? It was excellent; I think you'd like it if you haven't seen it.
