I mean, what positive extracurricular outlets do the kids have besides Quiddich? Is that the only sport they have? Is that the only after-school activity they let these kids participate in? No wonder it's too important than is healthy. OK, there's Gobstones, but nobody really mentions it. People play chess, but there's no organization to support people learning and developing their skills.
Where are the art classes? The book clubs? The music programs? The school plays? The science fairs? What about other sports like swimming, track & field, gymnastics, etc.? Not everything that's worth doing requires a wand or a broomstick.
Why doesn't the Wizarding World put effort into coexisting with Muggles? Why aren't they using their considerable power to help solve global problems? These people can make cars that don't require gasoline to function. Does anyone have any clue how much better this alone can make things for our planet? House-elves can solve the problem of too few health care workers. Domesticated phoenixes and/or unicorns can help cure diseases like AIDS and cancer. If the feasts at Hogwarts are anything to go by, famine could be a thing of the past.
Snape could single-handedly solve our overpopulation problem. He'd make a potion that had some sort of trigger on it so that people only had babies when they were psychologically ready for parenthood. It's simple: baby + good timing + sane parents = fewer dunderheads.
Apprating could make exploration of other planets a whole lot easier.
Come to think of it, I'd hate going to Hogwarts because I'd get bored.
education? yeah, right . . .
