Woman_ironing, I do not read love in Harry's decision to go into the forest and give himself up. I read weariness and despair. He just learned that he never had a chance to outlive Voldemort (or so he was led to believe) and have the normal life he was planning on having after the war. And running away wouldn't grant him that kind of life either, not because of any guilt or shame on his part but because Voldemort wouldn't let him. Had Harry fled Voldemort would have chased him to the end of the world anyway. The only question is how many would die as colateral damage in the meanwhile. Mr Spock would have made the same decision that Harry made.
