mary_j_59Travis Prinzi had this meme on his blog back in February; I came across it when I was looking for the Bitter Word's essay on Dumbledore as a narcissist, and I hope he doesn't mind my stealing it. Anyone who wants to may steal it from me!
Here are the rules Travis set out: For each character, try to sum them up with one word. I may add a word or two to explain my choices, being the talkative character that I am! If you like, you can list characters and single words before looking at mine, so you're not influenced by what I say. I'm also going to list the characters before doing the meme.Here goes:
I'm not, I think, doing all the characters Travis and the others did. I'm starting with the trio - Harry, Ron and Hermione. Then Neville, Luna, Severus, Sirius, Dumbledore, Ginny, Molly, Arthur,Lupin, Voldemort, Slughorn, Hagrid, James, Lily. I might add the twins, though it will be repetitious, and I suppose I'd better round out the Marauders generation by mentioning Pettigrew. Now the actual meme -
Harry - Ignorance; the fool. Therefore Percival. (And I like Cal a heck of a lot better than Harry!)
Ron - Loyalty.
Hermione - Ruthlessness.
Neville - Nobility, purity of heart. Therefore Galahad, the grail knight.
Luna - Intuition; the moon.
Severus - Grief, woundedness of soul, repentance. Therefore the Fisher King.
Sirius - the Grim. The dog who guards the boundary between life and death.
Dumbledore - the Schemer, the manipulator.
Ginny - Valkyrie.
Molly - Erda, the earth mother (in both good and bad senses).
Arthur - Eccentric? I don't really know about him; the first word that comes to mind, for me, is passive, avoidant. But I do like him.
Lupin - passive-aggressive.
voldemort - the Devil; cruelty and sadism.
Slughorn - politician.
Hagrid - child-man; innocent.
James - bully.
lily - aggressive. social climber.
the twins - bullies.
Pettigrew - Treachery, cowardice.
Very hard to try to keep the descriptions to one word! You can see I didn't really succeed. I'll be interested in others' responses; it's a good meme, I think. )
