Oh - just two more thoughts. I have something to say about Richard Mourdock, but am not sure I dare! The man has been misquoted, and I actually understand where he's coming from. As I said to a friend, abortion's a horribly difficult situation because it's about two innocent human lives - the mother's and the baby's. She (a very conservative Catholic from a Mennonite family) didn't understand this.I think Mourdock actually does. What he doesn't understand is that, for that very reason - because it is such a serious moral issue - the state has no business getting involved. If we truly respect and desire our human rights and liberties, we should never give them over to the state. The state is there to protect those rights and liberties, not to take them from us.
