I finally got to it, and here it is.

1 Are you going to look at every possible spoiler you can before the book comes out? Did you with HBP and how accurate were the ones you saw?

I'm going to try not to. But I probably won't succeed. My sister and I were terribly impressed by John Granger's alchemical analysis because he got both Dumbledore's death and the weather right. He got the weather right! We can't even do that in the real world. Professor Granger is worth paying attention to.

2. What will you do if Amazon (or whoever;) don’t deliver your copy on time, and everyone is reading it except you?

Um - I must confess, I will probably get my mitts on a copy at the library where I work. But amazon hasn't failed me yet.

3.Will you read the last chapter before anything else? Are you planning to read the book all in one go or are you a slow reader?

I never thought of myself as a slow reader until I came across all these 11 and 12 year olds who had read OOTP in a single day. It took me about a week to get through HBP, and I expect the final book will take as long. I may skip a bit, but won't read the ending first - I'll start from the beginning and go straight through, slowly.

4. What’s your theory on the meaning of “Deathly Hallows?”

The literal meaning would be dead people who will help Harry (deathly Saints), but I actually think it refers to places: the graveyard at Godric's Hollow, the graveyard at Hogwarts (which we haven't seen yet) and the death chamber in the ministry. We'll be going to all those places.

5. What’s the craziest Harry Potter theory you’ve got, which you could only share with your trusted f-list?

Well - I think it's quite sensible, and likely to be proven true. There was another prophecy; it involves Snape, and he is the one who is going to kill Voldemort.

6. If you could write in a sub-plot of your own choosing to the main Harry one, what would it be?

See above. We need to know Snape's full story, and it's going to be surprisingly like Harry's - and Neville's. (And I want something good for Neville, too. Please! Please!)

7. Who do you think will die in the book, and who would you be most upset to see die, even if you don’t think it’s likely?

Harry and Voldemort, though Harry may come back. And I'm just about sure that Bellatrix and Pettigrew will die as well. According to Professor Granger, Hagrid may also die, and so may some of the Weasleys. I would be extremely upset if both Snape and Harry died*, and I really, really don't want anything bad to happen to Neville or Luna.

8. Name three main (ish)characters who you think will definitely live and why. Is there a very minor character(s) you really want to have a happy ending?

I'm not sure I can name anyone who will definitely live. Not after HBP. But, if Harry dies and does not come back through the veil, Ron and Hermione will live. I want happy endings for Snape and Harry (in this world or the next), Luna, and Neville.

9. If you don’t like the book, or are bitterly disappointed by it, do you think you’ll still stay in the fandom?

No. It was only my frustrations with HBP that got me into the fandom in the first place. If my worst fears about DH are realized, I won't stay.

10. One word (or concise) answers only!

Snape: good, evil, own agenda? Good. No question.

Bill: will he help Remus or just be on permanent honeymoon? ? I'd say he'd help the order, anyway.

Peter: a Gryffindor moment or not? Yes, but from what I've seen of Peter, I can't see how or why.

Harry: is he a Horcrux? Yes.

The Weasley’s: will they all survive? No.

If no to the above: who won’t? Ginny will probably die, and so may one or both of the twins.

Did Snape love Lily? Yes - well, maybe. He has other motives as well.

Hogwarts: will they go back to school or not? Probably not to study, but they will be back.

Remus and Tonks: will they get married in the book? No idea. Maybe at the end, though what I saw of Tonks/Remus didn't make me hopeful.

Bellatrix: who will be her nemesis? Meaning what? Who will kill her? Snape (if she threatens Draco) or Voldemort (if she tries to protect Cissy or Draco). Neville won't kill her, but he will be instrumental in thwarting her/bringing her to justice.

The new leader of the OotP is …? Minerva

Percy: will he see the error of his ways or not? Yes, but I hope his family does as well.

11.If Harry could take just one adult Order of the Phoenix member with him on the search for Horcruxes, who should it be and why? Aberforth! who else? He's more likely than anyone else to know something useful, and Rowling said we would find out more about him.

12.Will Remus and Greyback have a confrontation in human or werewolf form? Will Tonks be involved? Who will the other werewolves support? Probably, probably, and they may show mixed loyalties.

13.Who is the person from Harry’s class (and it isn’t him, Ron or Hermione), who will become a Hogwart’s teacher? What subject will they teach? Draco will teach Potions.

14. Do you think Harry will observe Remus looking less lined and walking with a little more of a spring in his step? If so, do you think he'll attribute it to Tonks, and if he does, will he blush? ??? Who's blushing here? Harry or Remus? Harry might; Remus won't. I don't hold out high hopes for Tonks/Remus, though I'd like them both to be happy.

15. Will Ginny use,"But Professor Lupin saw the futility of being a noble prat!" for one of her million arguments with Harry about why they should be together? Do you think they’ll get back together at all? Um - no. I think Harry will be with Luna if he survives.

16. Which house do you think Tonks is in, and why? Is she going to morph into someone important and who will it be? Slytherin, like her mom. She's certainly manipulative enough, and I think Professor Snape actually liked her. It would be great if her power was actually useful.

17. Who will be revealed to be the heir of Gryffindor? Severus Snape.

18. As JKR has promised the final chapter will be like an epilogue; how do you think the final paragraph will read? I've already written my version of the ending, and am happy to wait for hers. I can't imagine an epilogue.

*A major point of these books, as I see it, is that Harry and Severus must reconcile. They can't very well do that if they are both dead, as hraefn pointed out.

Are you less convinced now that Harry's for the chop? I can remember you being pretty definite about it in one of the Who Will Die? posts on HP_theories.

I too hope that there's some sort of reconciliation between Snape and Harry. Or at least a moment of grudging understanding, like the bit at the end of GoF when their eyes meet, but a little more pronounced than that.

No, I'm about as convinced as I ever was. When I first read HBP, I was convinced that Severus was a goner, and would give his life to save Harry's. But then I thought about it some more: what is the real conflict in these books? Why are Harry's eyes emphasized so much? How did Harry and Lily defeat Voldemort in the past? What does Voldemort, himself, represent? When I'd thought out my answers to these questions, I became certain that I'd got things the wrong way round initially. Severus is not going to die to save Harry; Harry will die (or at least offer his life) to save Severus. I would put money on this, and I'm not a betting person.

That said, I would be really happy if Rowling could manage to save them both in a way that was convincing. But I can't imagine how she would pull that off.

Hee! If I were a betting person, I'd wager a fair amount of cash that Harry's going to survive. Naturally, I promise not to gloat too much when DH is released and I am revealed to be absolutely correct. ;)

Well - actually, the part of this I would place money on is that Harry will offer his life to save Snape's. I'm morally certain of that; it is where all the themes of the books are tending, I believe. But that doesn't mean Rowling couldn't come up with a way for Harry to survive. *I* just can't see one, and I'd be really annoyed, at this stage, by (1) meaningless or painless sacrifices and (2) reset buttons. If Rowling avoids these, allows Harry to live, and still ensures the necessary sacrifice/reconciliation takes place, I'll be thrilled. Which brings me to part two of my prediction. I think you already know that I think Severus will be stripped of his magical powers, at least temporarily. I think, if he survives, the same will happen to Harry. And this will not necessarily be a punishment! For Severus, at least, I think the loss of his magic will allow for a wholeness in his life, and a healing, that hasn't been possible in the wizarding world. The same may be true of Harry.

So those are my wild theories. Thanks for commenting!

Ooh, I will have to steal this meme! ;o)

17. Who will be revealed to be the heir of Gryffindor? Severus Snape.

Hmmm, that would be very amusing, but I reckon Neville will be! (A hunch)

I've got my resons for thinking it's Snape, (the griffin/hippogriff references; the story structure, and, as another livejournaller said, it would be *such* a salutory shock for both Severus and Harry), but I'd be almost equally happy if it were Neville. Neville is a true prince, IMHO, so I wouldn't mind at all if it were he, really. Just so long as it's *not* either Harry or Ginny!

What do you mean by stealing the meme? I thought I took it from you? If you'd like to quote me, go right ahead - I don't mind at all provided I'm credited. If you'd like to do it over, the same applies. Steal away!

*scratches head* Nope, the meme didn't come from my direction, certainly. But I will indeed steal it as it's intelligent and deserves to do the rounds! :o)

Heh, it would be great, I agree, if Snape were the heir of Gryffindor, he may prove to be the bravest of them all yet. But Neville might be the more likely one...maybe. ;o)

oh, now I remember - i got it from Nemesister, but somehow didn't copy the last two questions. There are 20 in all. I think the originator may be A_T_Rain, who is a huge Lupin fan; thus the many questions related to Lupin and Tonks. But I'm not sure - I just know two of my livejournal friends, and several acquaintances, did it before me. Have fun! (mary, who's looking forward to seeing your answers.)

I hope Snape winds up being the Heir of Gryffindor too...maybe he already knows, and it really stings him?

Um, if it's steal-able please, that is?

I shall credit! ;o)
