And Severus's actions *do* definitely come across as much nobler than Sirius's - or, indeed, almost anyone's in the Potterverse, flawed though he is. Though I agree with you that he was slightly diminished in DH, he *still* comes across as a great hero to me precisely because he's just about the only person who shows this type of love.
