Thanks for your response, and I'm glad you liked it!

"And Snape and Harry are actually very alike.
To add to your list - they also share a connection with Voldemort that pains them. Harry through his mind and Snape through his DArk Mark."

That's an excellent point! I had not quite seen it that way before.

"Half blood - witch mother, muggle father
Voldemort had a pure-blood witch mother not a half blood, as witnessed in the House of Gaunt."

It seems I'd better translate this part of the chart - what I meant was:
Voldemort is a half-blood, with a witch mother and a muggle father. Severus is a half-blood, with a witch mother and a muggle father. Harry has a witch mother and a wizard father, but his mother was muggle-born.

I had thought that what I meant would have been clear from the chart, but I guess it wasn't! We know that Merope was a pure blood and Lily muggle-born; my guess (we may never know for sure) is that Eileen was in-between; a half-blood like her son. I have some other wild theories in my other essays and my latest genfic; have you read these?

Just one more comment on yours: You say, "Yeh, being on the side of good doesn't automatically equal being a nice person." True! I see Severus Snape as very deeply good (although certainly not perfect - like Harry, he has a long way to go), but not at all nice. But that's not what I meant here. To me, his being a bad guy wouldn't mean that he was bad-tempered and nasty; it would mean that he was (1) Voldemort's man (but that seems impossible to me given some of the things he's done) or (2) Out for himself, selfishly, because he's grasping at power (possible, but this would be deeply disappointing - and also contradicts a lot of the symbolism and resonances Rowling has set up around him.)

Have you read my Severus vs Sirius essay? If not, please do. Please! You'll like it! (smirk). In it, I go a bit further into exactly what sort of 'good guy' Severus is. It's surprising - at least, it was to me.
