Good Twins/Evil Twins/Random Twins!

As Professor Granger has pointed out, Rowling's books are full of twins and twinning - there are all sorts of pairs, trios, comparisons . . .but it isn't at all clear, yet, what she means by this. Good twins, evil twins, neutral twins? Does every character in the books have a twin? Here iit is - the twin meme!
For every character, write the character you think is their twin. You can add a sentence or two about why. Here goes:

Harry Snape. No question. Since Voldemort is Harry's evil twin, Snape must be in there for another reason. But these two are very alike, and the constant comparison must mean something.

Hermione Percy

Molly Vernon Dursley. I'm not kidding! They are both concerned with status, conservative, judgmental, and rather hot tempered. Obviously there are differences, but the similarities are surprising.

Arthur Luna. These two are the 'free spirits of the wizarding world - happy in their eccentricity.

Fred and George Two possibilites here: James and Sirius or Crabbe and Goyle. James and Sirius fit best so far, as popular bullies. I don't see Crabbe and Goyle as having the leadership capacities the other two pairs show.

James Draco! I know that is shocking, because the differences are as striking as the similarities. But both James and Draco are spoiled single sons and heirs of wealthy families - and popular bullies while in school.

Dumbledore Voldemort. Just because there is no other match for either of these two - and both are heads of orders, and the two most powerful wizards in Britain.

We are meant to see Ginny as a twin to Lily, but I'm not convinced, since we don't have enough information yet. Petunia may well be a twin to Narcissa. Again, we don't have quite enough information. Of the major characters, I can't really find twins for Ron, Lupin and Pettigrew. And Hagrid is fairly unique, as well. Feel free to add to this or come up with twins for these characters. Have fun!

Oh, you are so right about Sirius and Bellatrix - how could I have forgotten that! Interesting about Draco, too; he seems to have as many twins as Harry does. Draco/Dudley, Draco/James, Draco/Regulus and perhaps even Draco/Severus. Yet, up till HBP, he seemed a very minor character. Are all these possible pairs a hint that he is more important than we have imagined? It's true that Draco does seem a lot like Regulus, but I didn't think of it because we don't really know anything about Regulus except second hand. He is directly compared to Severus, at least in Harry's mind, and I think that's misleading. I think Harry is to Severus as Draco is to James.

It's also true that there are lots of trios in the series. Jodel points to Harry, Severus, Voldemort and also Harry, Severus, Hagrid. And - as Greenwoodside and Jodel point out - all four are apparently fatherless boys with a personal connection to Dumbledore. Hard to know what to make of that!

Thanks for your additions!
