This is a ramble inspired by Puckling's comments on racefail - can't tell yet how long it is going to be, but probably fairly long, so it's going under a cut. When I was in grad school, one of the undergrads in my dorm said that her grandfather had told her he had no regrets. She thought that was a wonderful thing, and wanted to be able to say the same at his age. Though I agreed, I somehow thought it would be impossible to reach the 70s without having done (or failed to do) some things you regretted.
